Pesach in the Air at Yeshivah - Beth Rivkah colleges
As Pesach approaches, the focus of learning and classroom activities have taken on a Pesach flair at Yeshivah – Beth Rivkah Colleges. Children at the Gurewicz Early Learning Centre (GELC) have been enjoying Pesach dress-ups and learning through song and engaging activities. Children were captivated by a delightful Pesach puppet show, with those enrolled to attend the GELC in 2019 also attending for the morning’s fun.
Younger students across YBR will enjoy activities ranging from making beeswax candles to creating bedikat chametz (search for chametz) kits. Matzah bakery visits and creation of Hagaddahs will take place for the Kinder and Primary campuses of Yeshivah and Beth Rivkah, while upper primary and Secondary students will concentrate on delving deep into the text of the Haggadah and learning new concepts, ideas laws and customs associated with the Chag. In addition, they will collate a booklet of divrei torah to enrich the chag for parents and fellow students, and presentations exhibiting their newly acquired knowledge will be enjoyed by classmates.
Yeshivah Primary students will take the opportunity to enhance the chag for Gary Smorgan residents, with a musical performance of Pesach songs scheduled to take place in the lead up to Pesach.
A memorable Sunday morning of learning and fun for fathers and sons was a chance to extend knowledge, enjoy sport activities and a ‘build your own burger’ activity together, while a fascinating Pre-Pesach Yom Iyun morning of learning was held for women in the community – with many mothers and past students in attendance at the Beth Rivkah Secondary Beit Midrash. With topics ranging from the Mathematics of Pesach to Minhagei Pesach (customs of Pesach), the shiurim were engaging and enlightening.
